ABOUT PINNACLE STUDY CLUB OF TAMPA BAY

The Pinnacle Study Club of Tampa Bay was founded by Dr. Michael A. Pikos to foster continuing education and professional camaraderie among Tampa Bay area clinicians. Since then, the club not only grown in membership, but also in the breadth of topics discussed and expertise shared. We hold regular meetings in which members benefit from the extensive knowledge of our presenters as well as provide a friendly, professional atmosphere for learning. Additionally, The Pinnacle Study Club of Tampa provides its members opportunity for socialization and networking with colleagues from around the Bay area.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Pinnacle Study Club of Tampa Bay is dedicated to providing dental professionals with a continuing education experience that will foster interaction among colleagues and improve abilities in clinical skills and total comprehensive treatment planning. It is also committed to increase knowledge through quality education, review of current research and literature, and demonstration of surgical and clinical techniques and applications. With dedication and commitment, our members incorporate the latest clinical based technology, techniques, and education to improve practice growth, practice excellence, and provide our patients with the pinnacle of comprehensive dental treatment.

Dr. Michael A. Pikos, Founder

Dr. Michael A. Pikos originally hails from Campbell, Ohio. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from The University of Ohio and graduated with honors from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Pikos interned at Miami Valley Hospital and completed residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital.

Dr. Pikos founded Coastal Jaw Surgery in 1983 and is the senior member of a four surgeon practice. He has extensive experience in implant surgery, having placed more than 18,000 implants and having performed thousands of hard and soft tissue grafting procedures. He emphasizes interactive CT technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive implant rehabilitation. Since 1990, he devoted his practice exclusively to implant dentistry.

Dr. Pikos is Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Pikos is the recipient of the 2006 Aaron Gershkoff Memorial Award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Pikos is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine and a Courtesy Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology and Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Dr. Pikos serves on the Editorial Board of several industry journals including Implant Dentistry, Case Reports in Dentistry, and the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry. Dr. Pikos is the Scientific Advisor on Implants for the Kois Center.

As an oral maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Pikos is one of the first clinicians to recognize the relevance of Cone Beam and interactive computed tomography (CT) technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning along with its implementation for implant based oral rehabilitation. This technology is a cornerstone of Dr. Pikos’ practice and the instruction delivered at Pikos Institute.

In addition, Dr. Pikos has extensive experience in implant surgery and hard and soft tissue grafting procedures and emphasizes interactive CT technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive implant rehabilitation.

Dr. Pikos is a well-published author and has lectured extensively in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Dr. Pikos is an active member and frequent lecturer for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Academy of Periodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Implantology.

Dr. Pikos is founder and CEO of the Pikos Institute. Since 1990 he has been teaching advanced bone and soft tissue grafting courses with alumni that now number more than 2700 from all 50 states and 32 countries. Dr. Pikos maintains a private practice which is limited exclusively to implant surgery in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Dr. Kenneth L. Anderson, III

Dr. Kenneth L. Anderson has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery since 2017. He has been actively practicing as a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for the past 7 years. Dr. Anderson specializes in dental alveolar surgery, Zygomatic implants, nerve repositioning for dental implants, temporary crowns for dental implants, temporary implants, guided implant surgery, complex bone and soft tissue grafting, general anesthesia, facial trauma, platelet rich fibrin, oral pathology including jaw cysts and tumors. He assists in teaching dental clinicians in the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgery’s Pinnacle Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Anderson is located in the Spring Hill office.

Dr. Jason B. Blundell

Dr. Jason B. Blundell has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery since 2018. He has been actively practicing as a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for the past 10 years. Dr. Blundell specializes in dentoalveolar surgery (teeth extractions, wisdom teeth extraction and alveplasty), dental implants, hard and soft tissue grafting, general anesthesia, facial trauma and orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery. He assists in teaching dental clinicians in the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgery’s Pinnacle Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Blundell is located in the Trinity and Tampa offices.

Dr. Lindsey Pikos Rosati

Dr. Lindsey Pikos Rosati has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery as a Board Certified Periodontist since 2017. Dr. Rosati specializes in dental implants, periodontal plastic surgery, periodontal therapy, bone grafting and periodontal-orthodontic procedures, including correction of malpositioned teeth and jaw, treatment of gum recession, treatment of gummy smile, oral plastic surgery, treatment of gum disease, and minimally traumatic extractions. She assists in teaching hygienists around the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgery’s Hygiene Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Rosati travels from the Palm Harbor, Trinity, and Tampa offices.

Dr. Philip J. Hedger

Dr. Philip J. Hedger has been with Coastal Jaw Surgery since 2016 as our resident Prosthodontist. Dr. Hedger specializes in treating dental and facial issues that involve restoring missing teeth. He is highly trained in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures and temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD). Dr. Hedger is  faculty member of the Pikos Institute where he teaches implant prosthodontics. He assists in teaching dentists and hygienists in the Tampa Bay area through Coastal Jaw Surgery’s Pinnacle and Hygiene Study Club held at the Pikos Institute in Trinity, Florida. Dr. Hedger is located in the Same Day Teeth® office in Trinity.
